Position Description


The Mission System Engineering and Operations Engineer will develop and manage requirements, design control and autonomy algorithms, perform spacecraft orbital and rigid-body dynamics analysis, design telemetry and command systems, support mixed simulation testing for embedded flight software, develop and optimize spacecraft operating procedures, and resolve real-time on-orbit flight anomalies. Potential assignments will include system engineering, attitude control unit engineering, software interface and requirements management, space vehicle autonomy algorithm development, mission operations, dynamics and controls analysis, data analysis, and requirements validation.

Basic - Basic knowledge of controls, navigation and guidance methods as applied to aircraft, weapons and space vehicle design. Includes advanced education and experience with applied classical and modern control theory, system trade studies, architecture and integration, electromechanical system and equipment design and specification including management of supplier developed hardware, software and prototyping, vehicle handling and performance and pilot interfaces.

Typical Education/Experience


Level 1 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Level 2 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience.
